The International Centre for Aviation Innovation (ICAI), based in Singapore, bridges the gap between governments, industry and research institutions to co-develop cutting-edge solutions for the region’s unique challenges and explosive growth in air travel.
Fostering International Collaboration
We bring together partners across sectors to tackle ambitious, region-wide initiatives that would be difficult to pursue alone.
We de-risk innovation by sharing R&D risks, costs, and capabilities to make transformative projects achievable, empowering meaningful impact through collective strength.
We build capabilities by working with domain experts on their projects/initiatives, providing opportunities for cross-learning and capability building.
International Airport Lab
The International Airport Lab brings together local and international partners to co-develop and test airport innovations in real-world settings. It is a first-of-its kind collaboration which seeks to drive airport transformation end-to-end in partnership with the world’s two major aircraft manufacturers, airport operator, ground handler, airlines and research institute.
Partnership with Vietnam ATM Corporation (VATM)
Our partnership with VATM establishes a long-term framework to advance research and development in Air Traffic Management (ATM) between Vietnam and Singapore. With air traffic movements on these routes among the busiest in the region, this collaboration is a vital step towards improving gate-to-gate operational efficiency, optimising traffic flow, and enhancing sustainability for both countries’ aviation sectors.
Through joint R&D initiatives in areas such as simulation studies, Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM), Extended Arrival Management (XMAN), Airport–Airport Collaborative Decision Making (AA‑CDM), and performance analysis, we will co-develop and trial new concepts that can be scaled across the region. By pooling expertise, sharing data, and conducting real-world trials, the partnership will not only strengthen Vietnam–Singapore air connectivity but also serve as a model for collaborative ATM innovation across Asia‑Pacific.
CANSO
Our partnership with CANSO strengthens global collaboration to deliver practical, scalable solutions for Air Traffic Management (ATM). Together, we are aligning research, technology development, and knowledge exchange to address complex operational challenges, improve traffic flow efficiency, and enhance the safety and sustainability of air navigation services.
Through this collaboration, we aim to accelerate the adoption of innovative ATM concepts, share best practices across regions, and equip airports and air navigation service providers with the tools to manage growing traffic demand more effectively. By combining CANSO’s global network with ICAI’s R&D capabilities, we are building a stronger, more connected aviation ecosystem capable of adapting to the evolving needs of the industry.
